ABOUT GREEN CORNERS

The words "green corners" were initially inspired by a line from a William Blake poem, shown below. In one interpretation he seems to ponder the possible locations of missing Muses in far off natural realms. To me their location, and thus inspiration, is found by experiencing and understanding those very places Blake mentions. This website's intent is to communicate my compiled visual work and aspects of the experiences which have brought them about. This work is produced primarily to challenge audiences with forms and concepts which contribute toward visual philosophies to serve the subject's source. By both working with an aesthetic concerning nature and knowledge of natural systems, I strive to create work which enriches the relationship between scientific and social understanding. Additional information on visual concepts, gallery organization, and supporting documentation is available in the About page.

WILLIAM BLAKE: TO THE MUSES

Whether on Ida's shady brow
Or in the chambers of the East,
The chambers of the Sun, that now
From ancient melody have ceased;

Whether in heaven ye wander fair,
Or the green corners of the earth,
Or the blue regions of the air
Where the melodious winds have birth;

Whether on crystal rocks ye rove,
Beneath the bosom of the sea,
Wandering in many a coral grove;
Fair Nine, forsaking Poetry;

How have you left the ancient love
That bards of old enjoy'd in you!
The languid strings do scarcely move,
The sound is forced, the notes are few.
